Image Retention Inspection
Image retention is temporary image persistence caused by electrical charge buildup in emissive subpixels. Features an optional short conditioning reference (15s, 30s, 60s) followed by a neutral inspection stage.
Technical Scope & Limitations
Inspection only. This test does NOT repair or cause permanent damage. Does not substitute for internal TV pixel-cleaning cycles.
Browser rendering output can be influenced by OS display scaling, GPU driver color settings, and active HDR profiles.
- Stage A (Optional): Display a high-contrast conditioning pattern for 15, 30, or 60 seconds.
- You may click "Skip Conditioning" if you already suspect temporary retention.
- Stage B: The engine switches to solid neutral gray fields (5%, 10%, 25%, 50%).
- Look for any faint ghost outline of the preceding image. Temporary retention typically fades within minutes.

- Alternatively, click "Skip Conditioning" if you already suspect retention from previous gaming or desktop use.
- When the neutral gray field appears, inspect the screen for any faint outline of the preceding shapes.
- Notice if the ghost outline fades away over the next 1–2 minutes.
What to Look For
- Faint outlines that disappear quickly represent normal temporary retention.
- Outlines that persist across hours or solid colors represent permanent subpixel wear.
